HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO "TAME" your iguana???

cv768 Mar 02, 2004 04:23 PM

We used to have an iguana (biggest suck-up ever) until he died recently...he took almost a year to fully tame...

Our new adopted iguana is pretty fiesty...we've had her for about a month now...she's approx. 8 months old. She was mistreated, has a nasty burn on her head and a bite mark out of her dewlap...(probably from another iguana.

She was really mean when we first got her...biting, whipping...hissing...now after a month she's stopped the biting but whips and hisses....how long does it usually take to tame an iggy???

We spend about 30 minutes a day with her 4 days a week and anywhere from 1-3 hours the other 3 days a week.

Heh I am not liked here but I will post mine...

1 week. I spend at least 2 hours a day with mine. He eats out of my hand and doesn't get mad anymore when I pick him up, and falls asleep when I pet him.

Of course I have only had him for about 2 weeks, so he could regress. I hear they do that as they get more comfortable, but I am hopeful

When I first got my water dragon it was 6 weeks old. Every time I held it it would fall asleep in my hand. I thought "aww, how cute, it trusts me." I found out later that baby water dragons faint when they're extremely afraid, hence the passing out in my hand.
