Saharan Male Belly Color?

azlunchbox Mar 02, 2004 05:35 PM

Hi everyone....i have a yellow saharan female.....and i got a red saharan Pair.......supposed to be a male and female of course.
But the males i've seen before all have clorfull bellies....and the one i have right now has a white belly with just some slight blackish marks on it......just like my females......so my question is....is there a way to make sure mine is male? or does this happen at times? or does that mean he is DEFFINATELY a female? or what?
He is a sub-adult.....about.......11 inches.....but that' guess not exact.
But yeah....can anyone hep me?

thanks

I talked to Doug Dix at a show after I first got Arthur from a pet shop - my vet thought she was male from her femoral pores, but I wasn't so sure. She was about 9.5" at the time and Doug said that a male of that length should be showing some belly color. Arthur hasn't ever made it past 10", though, either, so I don't know. My (almost completely uneducated) guess would be you have a female.

Joe's head and jaw are much larger and more solid than Arthur's, too. There's no mistaking Arthur for a boy now that I have Joe to campare to. Don't know if you can tell from the picture...

Well if that's the case then this is VERY bad news.
Because my breeding projects are all going to hell....just last week found out my Male Beardie is really a female......is it strange to have a girl named Jimmy? lol
and now i might have 3 female Uro's.........gggrrrrrrrr that sucks.
