Hi, I'm new to Leo's and I have a few questions.

DexterPython Mar 02, 2004 06:11 PM

As the title says, I'm new to these guys and would like to start breeding them. I've read a load of info in the last few days about basic care and I've owned Iggy's and a few snakes, so I think I've got that covered. The only question I have is substrate related, has anyone tried CareFresh? It doesn't seem like it would be a problem, I think it'd weight too much for a small amount of saliva around the mouth during eating. I'm probably going to go with slate tile anyway, I'm just curious.

The morphs I think that I'd like to work with are Albino, Blizzard, Blaze, SHCT and SHTCT, SH Pastel and Ghosts. I've problem left a few out and will find a few more later. I think I want to start with the Blazing Blizzard project and I have a few questions about that. For instance, which line albino is better or does it even matter? I really like the high-contrast Bell Albinos. What are the mixes that go into making a SHTCT from the ground up? If anyone could point me in the correct direction to find this information, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you,

im not quite sure about the substrait u mentioned but slate would b fine. as far as blazing blizzards go, there not that easy to get. bell would b the albino to go with. each EGG, not clutch is a 1/16 chance.

CareFresh is recycled paper that's kind of like wood chips. And those sound like the same odds for getting a Snow Ball.

I would have to say no on the CareFresh. It's nothing like woodchips, have you ever felt it? It's very soft. It's very weird bedding. I know you said you would probably go with slate anyway, I just thought I'd put me 2 cents in, in case anyone else wondered about CareFresh. We use it at work for our small animals and stuff. Not so dusty as sawdust bedding, but it's too soft and fluffy for leos.

Thanks. I've been using it since it came out. Wood chips were the closest comparison I could think of at the moment.
