EGG problems

dmlove Mar 02, 2004 06:54 PM

If my female laid eggs a few weeks ago, would they already show signs of dying if they were infertile or gonna go bad? they are all plump and white, but a few have a dark side on them, like they are almost transparent just on a certain spot...it just showed up...i gave the mother tons of calcium so i dont think that it is calcium deficiency. ill try to get pictures later....please any suggestions?

It's hard to say. 99% of the time, if they stay white they are good.
Try candling them. Use a pen light to try to look in the egg. If you see veins, they are fertile.

They sound like they are good eggs. The "semi clear" spots are due to moisture in your incubator and the container you are using for the eggs.
