Something is not right with her feet...please look...

wolfcharmer Mar 02, 2004 06:58 PM

My female bearded dragon is over 4 years old (I've had her the whole time). I never really noticed anything odd until I adopted an adult male beardie and saw how his toes looked, long, flexible and slender. My females toes are short, thick, and WILL NOT BEND! What is wrong? I don't think she has always been like this. Could I have given her too much calcium over the years? Is it arthritis? I feel bad for her because I noticed that her toes not being flexible effects her climbing ability. She has been to the vet for other medical problems like constipation and ovulating. She is deficating normally again. I wormed her recently and I'm trying to get her to gain weight.
This is her front left foot:

This is her hind foot:

One more thing: I have clipped her nails, but they seem to grow so slowly (not like the male). In fact I don't remember the last time they were sharp.

body styles of bearded dragons and she is very normal. She has what I call the stocky build legs and feet.

Here is a picture of one that we have with the same style and this lady is and has always been very healthy and heartly

She does have chubby legs and thicker feet than my male, but her toes will not bend. They are like hard a rock.
Thanks

either, especially in the front...... hard bones are GOOD..... but if your real concerned, have an x-ray done and make sure there is not crystals or sediment in the joints. I do not think there is, as you would also see knots on the joints if she had gout or calcium deposits in them.
