repti sand

Would zoomed repti-sand be ok to use for my dragon?How many lbs of it would I need to cover a 40 gallon breeder?

I wouldnt use it, I have tried it before and my beardie started to lick it and he would get some in his mouth when he would eat crickets.So I changed his cage over to shelf liner it is so much easier to clean and I think that it looks better.

I would not use either of those. The chance of impaction is there, and it's a chance not worth taking, IMO.

I saw a dragon at the vet a few weeks ago that was impacted on that stuff. Looked absolutely aweful.

I agree with the other response. Shelf-liner is easy to clean and safe for your lizard. It may not be as pretty, but that is not what's important.

Oh yeah that stuff is ridiculously expensive compared to playsand. Depending on how thick of a substrate you prefer it could take anywhere from 4-8 bags at 10 bucks a pop to fill a breeder. I could fill your breeder to the rim with a 12 dollar, 100lb bag of playsand.
