Beardie drinking

ta2edskin Mar 02, 2004 07:51 PM

I was wondering if anyone else`s beardie does this? My new beardie bobbie is 10 1/2inches &45 grams. I have had him for 3 days and when I bring the spray bottle to the cage to mist him/her he will come right up to it and drink from it.It looks so cute I am going to try and get a pic of him/her doing it.

They are obviously thirsty, in both cases. Let them drink all they want, until they stop by themselves. Beardies usually get all the water they need from their food, but especially babies, who usually don't eat much greens, need to drink water to keep hydrated. At least that's my experience.

I always get one or two babies per clutch that practically attack the spray bottle. They get their mouths right on the spray tip and drink and drink.

Try dripping water on his nose with a eyedropper or syringe to make sure he is getting enough water.
Many people spray their babies, but I've always used a dropper. If I am thirsty, I don't want to be sprayed, I want a drink!!..lol

I use the liguid calcium on my dragons and after i put the first drop on their nose they suck it up right out of the dropper. it is pretty damn cute. by the way a bubbler is a much easier way to keep your dragons hydrated, mine use it like a hot tub. they love it, they'll jump through it and lounge off the edge with the bubbles coming up around their legs, all the while getting as much h2o as they need.

I know we like to spoil our dragons but there is now that Fuego is getting a hot tub before me!

they aren't that expensive, i think i payed 12 bucks and then bought a 6 dollar air pump at walmart. you can make them for even cheaper. my girlfriend just bought a pump with a bubble stone and stuck it in her mountain horned dragon's water bowl, it doesn't have the little cut out for the hose like a bubbler does but she put a cool rock on the hose to weigh it down and her setup works great. her baby horned dragon does swan dives in it every morning. her setup was 7 bucks tops and it's a blast to see them play in it, the bubbles completely mystify them.
