Situation in Iraq (more...)

H+E Stoeckl Mar 02, 2004 07:55 PM

As of now there is no further evidence needed that things in Iraq get completely out of hand. This country sinks in chaos.
Hundreds of civilians bombed to death, rioters throwing stones to US soldiers blaming them (rightly) for the chaos.

Cite: "Previoulsy we had mass graves, now the streets are our graves" (Iraqi civilian).

It is about time for the U.S. government to comprehend (and admit) that it made a grave mistake.

The U.S. government opened a barrel (German saying) with this. I am curious how the whole mess will lead to.

Im kidding.
But its a good thing we got saddam out of power, we should just take some oil and get out of there.
its obvious the iraqis want to live like a 3rd world country.
I mean they worship a god that dont even exist, and the US should just up and leave. We have nothing to gain by staying there any longer.
you cant blame what happen today on the US, blame it on the bombers.
If Germany had any sense they would make friends with the U.S and join in a coalition to take over all arab states. They are people who dont like christians or americans, or anyone not like them. So i say, the right thing to do , is europe and U.S. band together, with Russia, China and Take over the middle east once and for all.

taking the oil and get outta there is not a bad idea )

As to the second proposal I am sceptic. You simply can not take over the Middle East. This region is populated by fanatics who don't have a regard for their own lifes. Just look at Israel. They fight a war against the Palestinians they can not win. It is impossible to defeat partisans and guerillas on top of them when they don't fear their death.

I am truly not a fan of the Israelis and the way they handle the things, but from their point of view the wall is a good idea and they only promising measure. I can think of more regions in the world where it would be advantageous just to build a wall around and watch the inhabitants from above killing themselves.

Also I am sceptic to China and to a lower notch to Russia. I am not convinced both nations can be trusted not to dagger us from behind.

I was more or less being sarcastic, about taking over middle east.
Isreal is in a bad spot, but in the end they will prevail.
In all seriousness, i do wish, the US would not get so involved with things that dont concearn our national security.
It is the job of the President to ensure our safety. That what our goverment was formed for, to protect our citizens from outside interests.
However, the goverment has evolved way beyond its original intentions. I cannot stand politicians. I do vote republican, because that party does reflect my values more then the others.
No abortion, no same sex marriage, no affirmative action, no more taxes, less govt control in our lives.
This world has always been and always will be, a violent place to live. I suppose at the end of the day, its up to the individual to try and make it better on a whole.
Its the people that make a country what it is, not the leaders.
Thats why America is #1.
My grandparents were born in Germany, hope to get over there one day and give it a whirl.
