xcaimankidx Mar 02, 2004 08:39 PM

I just bought a medium sized (about 4 ft.) columbian Red tail Boa and it is making this funny pfft, like sighing sound.. I am curious if any of you have any idea what this might be?! Is it normal? Is it a defense, warning type of thing? I can like hear him make it from across the room ocassionally. Thanks for the help folks!

you need more heat!!! She is probably way, way to cold. If this keeps up she may get a respiratory infection.

that could be it because I JUST got him today and set his cage up and it hasnt really had a chance to warm up.. the place I got him from said that one of those sticky under the tank heaters was fine, which is what i use for all of my other snakes. thanks so much for your help!

Even with the undertank heaters you still need to use a thermostat/rheostat. The undertank heaters can get VERY hot, causing a burn to your animal, or even starting a fire in your house.
