Humidity and leopards

jasonmc Mar 02, 2004 10:48 PM

Is theis supposed to be a certain level of humidity in the leopard gecko enclosure? I have heard of people putting a small box of moist spagnum moss in the enclosure but dont know if this is necessary. I always thought leopards were desert dwelling, but then again that was just a thought.

XxJackalxX, do you have any pictures you can post of your leopards enclosure with the tile? I am really interested to see how it looks.

This page is sailing with posts. Way more then the snake posts. With all the other posts. I'm happy you guys were able to answer mine. Thanks again for any imput.

Its nesseccary for when they shed. I live in Bc canada so its not humid here at all. Usually i spray the cage heavily the night before they shed.
And sometimes they just like being in the humid hide.. dunno why, it guess its like a sauna :D

The over all cage should be dry, only your leo’s humid hide should be humid. I use a simple margarine container with moss, vermiculite, or paper towel at the bottom and mist it daily. You cut a hole in the container large enough for the gecko to get in and out.

Here is a picture of one of my leo’s humid hides, the entrance in cut in the lid, which is not shown:

Here are a few pictures of my tile/slate tanks:
