Tell me you sanitized your tub & took a hot shower after taking this photo
The tub gets sanitized every day. And as for me, I get a shower everyday too. But I have NEVER had any ill effects from getting in the tub with my monitors or getting in my gator pond enclosure with my gators.

My monitor is the last animal to be taken care of in my routine because she requires the most attention. I have handled her... fed her.. gotten scratched and whipped by her and sufferd no ill effects.. even when I forget to wash my hands after handling her. Scratches from her heal up faster than similar sized cat scratches treated the same way with antibacterial soap wash and then application of alcohol and betadine. I've never even gotten so much as a sick stomach from her.. so this is sort of a ridiculous portion to the thread... Just more hype about the whole "ability of reptiles to transfer disease to people" I know it happens but its rarer than you think.

2.2 Leopard geckos (2 Blizzards (Caine and Goliath), 1 het Blizzard (Lilith) and 1 Tangerine Albino (Tequila Sunrise ...Tiki for short))
0.1 Savannah Monitor (Kiros)
13 rats
1 Gerbil
2 Dogs (Loki and Storm)
2 cats (Sahara and Hercules)
Thank you. I havn't gotten sick or had infections as a result of interacting with any of my monitors or other lizards. I have however gotten food poisoning a couple times from eating out at popular restaurants that many people eat at daily.

I agree, I also have a feeling that herps are much 'cleaner' than many other animals. I handle my sav and my boas quite often and don't bother to wash my hands just because I've handled them. No problems at all.
Hey, Im one of those people who in over 12 years handling and raising monitors (WC and CBB) that have never, ever, gotten so much as a bit sick from any of them. Ive never once gotten sick from contact by many many other reptiles, amphibians, etc etc. And yes with my own animals guess what I forget, to wash after handling them, they climb all over me, and Ive never suffered any ill effects, guess its that strong immunity to herp related vectors, lol. Ive heard of a few instances of owners of iguanas children suffering salmonella, yet the family birds, dogs, cats, etc are far more probable to carry it that the family herps. Ive heard of cases of people visiting zoos getting it after contact with herps, that makes me wonder about the conditions those animals are kept in that carry those diseases etc. After all weve all heard about and witnessed the genius of zoo captive husbandry in so many cases. Yes I was there when the picture was taken and I saw nothing wrong with having Mason in that tub etc.
Oh, I have gotten sick from contact by a few dogs in the past, and Ive gotten sick many times eating at restraunts and bars, maybe Applebees and a few others should be shut down for those colds Ive gotten from eating there, or at least be disinfected a bit better.
Applebee's...that place is evil...."shudders"
