Any ideas on building a display set up for adults.

HDEAN Mar 03, 2004 07:53 AM

I am trying to come up with a display to house 15 or more adult colubrids that will not take up much space at an expo. Must be able to sit on a table and also lock in case I walk away from the table for awhile. Would like it to be easy to clean. Any ideas?

I always thought the Cambro polycarbonate (aka lexan) boxes would be great for this application. You would have to drill some holes for locks. They come in a variety of sizes. I would think the 9" deep versions would make the best table displays.

The main thing that would concern me about these is that scratches are very hard to polish out.

If looking to purchase ready-made systems:

Check out Rosies, Rack Systems & More in the breeders or suppliers section. They sell racks with Cambro polycarbonate food boxes that are low profile but roomy enough for adult display, and the boxes are crystal clear.

Another option, Precision Caging sells 24W x 12D x 8H cages now. You can stack a bunch up. They are super light in weight.

If building your own, I agree that Cambro polycarbonate boxes are great. If you have a Smart&Final near you, they sell them. You can also find them on Cambros website. Do a search for Cambro. The food pans are cool, like 10x21x4 high and clear.
