Here is about the only caree sheet I've evern come across on the net; http://www.snakemuseum.com/tigerrat.htm
Temps max at 87ish, low 75, with a basking light. A large water bowl, humidity box with moist cypress bark, and an arborial setup. Occasional misting is appreciated (drinking), but times of dryness seem to have little negative effect provided the large water bowl and humidity box is provided. Some plastic vines hanging by their highest perches provide great camouflage, and somehow my 6ft male with his bright yellow coloration disappears in the green leaves! Go figure!
These snakes are very strong and move with great speed, and a snake hook for fishing them out of their enclosure wouldn't be a bad idea. Mine gets a bit defensive, and can be really problematic to get out easily with 2ft of tale, and has no problem with giving a little (harmless) nip on occasion. They have small teeth. so it really doesn't hurt. These are VERY impressive creatures, and the power and tension in their bodies is just incredible. None of the other snakes I'm working with can really be compared to the Spilotes, their just very different and awesome creatures! I can't wait to see how big he'll get!
Hope that helps!
