WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK I SHOULD CALL THEM? I SEE THAT MOST OF YOU DON'T REALLY LIKE THE NAME THAT I CHOSE. I AM NOT INTO MORPH BOAS AND HAVE LITTLE EXPERIENCE MAKING UP NAMES, SO I SHOULD PROBABLY GET SOME HELP. ADVISE ME ON WHAT NAME WOULD WORK BEST IN YOUR OWN OPINION. PLEASE NO CAGLE ANYTHING BECAUSE I DID NOT PRODUCE THEM. I MADE THIS CLEAR AS WITH THE GENETICS AND NOT BEING FROM THE SWEDISH LINE IN THE BEGINING, BUT SOME PEOPLE ON THIS FORUM HAD A HARD TIME COMPREHENDING THIS. I KNOW GRAY AND JOE HAVE BEEN STAYING AWAY FROM THIS ISSUE, BUT YOU ARE THE MEN THAT NOW HAVE THEM, SO PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR INPUT ON A NEW NAME OF YOUR CHOICE. I COULD HONESTLY CARE LESS ABOUT A NAME AND NOR DOES THE MAN THAT BRED THEM. I AM ONLY INTERESTED IN SUPPLYING THE REPTILE COMMUNITY WITH THE BEST AVAILABLE PRODUCT. THIS WAS MY GOAL FROM THE START AND STILL IS. I HAVE NOTICED THAT BUSINESS HAS PICKED UP THE LAST FEW DAYS, SO I GUESS BAD PRESS IS BETTER THAN NO PRESS. I'M NOW LATE FOR WORK, SO I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RESPOND UNTIL LATE THIS EVENING. I LOOK FORWARD TO HEARING FROM EVERYONE.

YOUR FRIEND AND FELLOW HERPER, BILL

Aberrant Pastel Columbian or Brazilian. That is my vote because that is a true statement that accurately describes the animals in their different forms. And since it seems to be more of an inheritable trait than a genetic one this leaves it open to interpretation rather than relying on genetics. This also prevents anyone saying you ripped them off and it also does not capitalize on a truly genetic trait that already exists.

Are you considering genetic to mean influenced by one gene, and inheritable to be the influence of many genes (i.e skin color in humans)?

"Cagle Reds" has a certain ring to it, and would be more descriptive for the pics i have seen so far...

That Webster guy says:"rain'check",n.- 1. postponement of an invitation. 2. A ticket for future admission,to an event that has been postponed,or,interrupted by "rain"...talk about having some underlying meaning? man,it'll take folks a while to jump on that bandwagon,right?...*lol* seems to me someone's got some more breeding to do..."prove",first..."name",later? (they're beautiful boas man! no doubt there!)don't take the horse to market without making sure he's pulling a cart?

They are indeed, beutiful snakes. From what i read in this post, no malice was intended in calling them jungles.
If you ask me, here are a few names, that describe these boas perhaps. Just having fun with it.

Imperial Boa
Majestic Boa
Razor Boa
Red-Backed Boa
Scarlet Boa

hmm thats all i got right now..
good luck

I like the name scarlet boa , that name seems to fit that boa real nice. Then if the jungle look proves out then it will be called the scarlet jungle boa.

Randall_Turner Mar 03, 2004 12:48 PM

Just so the same issue doesn't pop up that arrised because of the jungle name.. Ronne started using the Scarlet name to i.d. a line of his hypo pastels. Although if these are bcc I don't see any issues arrising by calling these Scarlet BCC.

Why do they require a NEW NAME? They just look like high color BCIs to me. Can someone explain this? Are these genetically proven? It certainly is a pretty thing. susan

I vote for "chicken boas". Why chicken boas? Well, I'm not sure. But damnit, chickens are just plain neat.

First off i'd like to say that I understand and am aware of Swedish Jungles, aberrant Boas, and other aberrant bloodlines.
I can see and understand both views on this.

Unfortunately it seems like most people can't, and I can't stand close minded people. This is why I have stayed away from these posts that seem to go on forever with the same closeminded opinions and arguments.

'When you wrestle a pig, only you get dirty, and the pig has all the fun'

You know what I told Bill?

I COULD CARE LESS IF HE FOUND THESE IN HIS BACKYARD OR IF HE PAID SOME KID 10 BUX FOR THE GROUP.

It is as clear as day that these boas are quite special, and it is foolish to think, having seen so many siblings that look alike, that this trait/gene/influence or WHATEVER you want to call it, will not be passed on.

I'd like to respond to many replies I see here, but don't want to get involved in pointless arguments...

i'm not saying everyone here is stupid, lol, but many show
ignorant in a sense when it comes to common sense and practicality in these discussions.

why not call them common boas with a little color?

why not call a Mercedes Benz a tin box with some leather? or a pretty engine? Ludicrous...

I have many morphs - color, pattern.. genetic morphs I paid lots of money for... most of them don't even compare in color and cleanliness to the pair of these guys I bought from Bill.
(No offense to those breeders - I still love them and purchased them for a reason, regardless...)

Why not attack the importers who pay a few dollars for parasite infested animals shipped in deplorable conditions and then have the nerve to offer them as genetic jungle's or stripers and charge thousands of dollars?

like the Ball Python guys who pay $6 for them and sell them for $600 or whatever number and make up about 40 different morph names from one shipment of normal wildcaughts?

I could care less either way.. why? because I don't need to buy from them, and the people that may buy from me would not buy from them. I buy what I want, from who I want, when I want and for whatever reason I want.

I've paid $150 for 'pastels', and up to $600 for pretty 'commons'

Bill asked my opinion, and I had to let some of them out...

(in my opinion this is like this whole discussion)

it doesn't mean you are what I say, because I said it!
doesn't mean anything but what I think.

with that said, I WILL NOT engage in meaningless arguments with people here about this.
If you choose to 'drill' me like some have tried with Bill, you will be wasting your time.
if you would like to have a reasonable conversation with me regarding this, feel free to call me... email me at rollojoe@hotmail.com with your # and I will gladly call you.

At this time, I don't believe these animals 'need' a name, or that a name will add anything to them!
I understand it would be easier to differentiate or for reference...

I will think of some and either post them or relay them directly to Bill - i'm not here to entertain everyone.

When I do breed them and produce viable offspring, i'll be glad to post my results and experiences.

With that said, I am off now... thanks to all who read this, sorry to all I may have offended - this was not my intention.

Take care and good luck - Joe Rollo - BciJoe
