Saving a Tail Tip

BRONXBOY Mar 03, 2004 12:29 PM

Hello,

I was wondering if you can save a tail tip if it is in bad condition? I purchased ( actually they just gave it to me ) an Ornate Nile from a pet shop, it was in bad condition, the pet shop did not pay much attention to it, or any other reptile for that matter !!
It is doing much better now, however, from prior bad living condition ( not enough humidity, no soaking, etc ) the last half-inch of it's tail is about half the width of what it should be. It's been constricted from skin not shedding off properly.
My question is, since it has not fallen off yet and is still attached, can I save the tip of the tail if I soak the nile and somehow get the skin off or is it too late since the tip is way smaller than it should be??

Thanks

it's kind of hard to say without seeing the damage. If you take it to the vet you will probly get more info. then what we can give you.
