Yellow belly bps?

Murphinski Mar 03, 2004 12:39 PM

I see these being advertised for sale (some for high dollar).......comments on the forum "maybe it will be the next yellow belly".....and so on. What is the hype with these so-called yellow bellies?

I ask because I have a female that was a CH import '01 that has a yellow belly patch (it starts around mid-section and stops just before the cloaca...entire patch is yellow) and I just thought it was some kind of birth defect, so to speak.

Now that I see all this "talk".......my curiousity is driving me craaazzzy!

Thanx for any help
Tom

Tom,

The name "Yellow Belly" is what is being used for a proven dominant trait that suposedly produces a white Ball python in the super form. The "Yellow Belly" genetics have been proven by a couple of people but as for the "white snakes" this season will be when all the information should come out on them. The "Yellow Belly" has certain Characteristics as a hatching and young animal but loses the coloration as it matures.

You say as they mature.....they tend to lose this yellow belly.

Completely?....or just faded?

Thanx for responding
Tom
