Breeding crickets is very hard and annoying. Crickets have a high mortality rate and you often have to breed a ton more than you actually need since so many of them die at various life stages. The one time breeding crickets is actually useful is if you need a constant supply of pinhead crickets and don't want to pay the same for them as you do adult crickets.
For more info, I suggest doing a search. Tons of people here have asked how to breed crickets, but the reason it is not common is because it is such a pain.

I don't find it hard at all. As a matter of fact, I wish I had tried this years ago.
I guess I should take a series of pics to show my experience. Maybe I am just lucky.
So far, I have thousands of crix that have hatched and grown to almost 1/4", with thousands more hatching out. I say, "thousands" because it looks like it, maybe it's hundreds. Either way, my adult females are laying eggs like they are suppose to and I put the deli cups of dirt, into a seperate tub with heat tape under it. In 1-2 weeks, I have swarms of pinheads.
I keep them in there, with egg flats. I use crix chow of some kind and some crix gel water. They are getting big now. I had to start a second tub because I have so many in the first tub. Unless things suddenly change, I should have 1/2" and up, in about a week or two. By the 4th week, I should have a second generation of females ready to lay eggs. I'll let you know.
