The short answer is, "You are much better off housing each snake in its own cage...for many reasons."
The long answer involves the LIST of reasons why. There are many reasons why it is best to give each snake a cage of its own.
Few, if any, really good reasons to put them together.
Yes, it will be possible to breed them. You might need to seperate them for a bit directly before breeding or during brumation. but even without that, there's still a good chance they'll breed. I know they're not corn snakes, but, everyone told me my corns wouldn't breed if I kept them all together. Two females surprised me with eggs.
There are all kinds of reasons to not keep them together- they can share diseases, one could eat the other(though that's rare in rat snakes), and a bunch of other things. I've been keeping snakes in pairs(and currently have a trio together due to lack of space), and haven't had any problems. Everyone says there are reasons to not keep them together, but I dont know of anyone who has actually had a problem keeping them together.
Yes, you are right...It is very possible, even likely, that they will breed. This leads to another possible problem: Females becoming gravid BEFORE they are large enough to bear eggs without threat of egg-binding and possible death. How LONG have you been keeping your pairs and trios together?
Yes...absolutely...It can be done. It's not the best possible scenario, however. Best of luck. Duffy
