Finally, the first picture of my baby Prehensile-Tailed Skink, so cute!!!

Hi,
I finally got a picture taken of her. I have been trying to do this for a while, but myself and technology don't get along too well. This is the best picture I could get of her. All of the other were either REALLY blurry or a picture of the inside of her nostril. What do you think of my little six month old baby girl? Does anyone have any good ideas for a skink name? I can't find a name for her and she has been with me for over a month! I was thinking maybe Zee, for "zebrata", or something like that. I really don't know, and that is why I am asking for your help. Does anyone know what "Corucia zebrata" means in English? Maybe I could get a name from that. I know "zebrata" waas given to this species because the guy who named them had many individuals with stripes. Any help would be appreciated. Josh
Isn't she just the cutest?

LEEWAY CORUCIA RESEARCH CENTER (LCRC)

Although only certain Phenotypes are banded.

The play of colors is best seen in low-angled lighting. It is possible this aids (Since their pigmentation blends in with the foliage)in detection of a Corucia by another intruding into the first's Circulus territory. Since Corucia zebrata are Crepuscular When they are most active, The play of colors (The rainbow shimmering) is most effective.

Sincerely,
Brian

Interesting- I have noticed a 'shimmering' rainbow effect only during bright direct sunlight. I occasionally take my PTS outside for direct UV light, and have noticed a very pretty rainbow reflection off of their scales, especially after being misted. It is most noticable on the darker individuals- heavily speckled Gertie and the darkest of her babies. I have tried to photograph it, but the reflection does not show up in the picture...
Cheers, Jess b

I wish ya alot of luck with your new baby ! What a sweet little thing she is.

As far as names, I love naming my animals, its fun.

And I think YOU, are the best one to name her. You live with her, and know her personality, and a SPECIAL name will come to you !

Then you can repost her cute pic, with her new name,

Eve
