Because the main or one of the main ingredients in dog/cat food is a form of meat like beef, chicken, etc. Look at my food chart and it will show you how much phosphorus is in beef and chicken. I'd get some silkies and feed those. They have twice the protein that beef and chicken have and have way more calcium.

Beautiful Dragons
Also, I've gotten the impression there is not as much experience with raising BTS's as there are dragons. If I remember right one of the common food items for dragons used to be dog or cat food but since more research has been done on them it has been decided it's not a good choice.
I think it's been about the same thing with iguanas.

I wouldn't feed a bearded dragon or any lizard, dog or cat food. There are alot of dyes or preservatives in dog and cat food, also some are pretty high in fat. If you want to feed your dragon a dry food, buy the bearded dragon pellets and feed them that when you don't have other insect foods available. These pellets are specially formulated to meet all the nutritional needs of bearded dragons. The T-Rex vegie dust you mix in with regular greens, is also a good alternative.
