after all the time put into planning and building this, it's finally done. I'm pretty happy with it, but of course things are always moving around. lol Hopefully this will last awhile cuz the next step will drive my parents over the edge.

That is a really nice looking tank. Could you please provide the specs for it, as my two hatchling boys are starting to outgrow their tank. Thanks!!

the tub is over a 100 gallon, filtered by a fluval 304 along with 2 fluval 2 in in it as well. Its a 2x4 frame around the tub with wood panneling to make it a little nicer looking. 4 lights, 1 bask bulb, 1 red bulb, 2 UV lights (putting in now), air pump for airation, gravel to cover bottle and hide waste, fake snappers, hiding wood, plants, log mounted to block on bottom hidden by rocks around it. i have 3 dozen goldfish that swim with him to make it fun to look at (he actually doesnt like goldfish that much). my day lights are all on timers to make light cycles easy. also use a python gravel vac to clean drain and fill tank (very worth it) i think thats it. any questions or advice for changing it is accepted cuz no setup is ever perfect.

I like the idea of having fish in the tank. I also keep lots of different native frshwater species. I find it actually helps keep the tank much cleaner. They clean up all the leftover food.

yea they do....the eat leftover food, eat algae and who cares of they get eaten.

"who cares of they get eaten."

Exactly. I'm constantly stocking my turtle tank up with minnows, crayfish, and goldfish. It's strange, the very first goldfish I ever gave him, he didn't eat. It's still in there even though he eats other goldfish I put in there. Maybe they're friends. Who else is going to pick the skin of his back. lol

Where did you get the native freshwater fish? I want to do that, but other than going to a lake and catching them, I couldn't find anyway to get them!

my local pet shop sometimes has the bass crappie and walleye in. but i would go to a lake and catch them.
