mouth open.

Lately my b.d. has been sitting on his little log thing that he loves to rest on and "chills" with his mouth open. I don't know what he's doing or why or anything. Is it a sign that he needs something? He just started it about a month ago and i see him doing it now at least once a day. And if i go over by him he just looks at me and keeps it open.. why?

Beardies do this when they are basking. It is a way for them to cool themselves without moving out of the nice warm spot.

This is either 2 things 1.He is gaping which is perfectly normal 2. He could have respitoray infection.Do you hear popping or does he look like he is forcing down air? If so you could bring him to the vet and try and rais the temps a little. If he is just opening his mouth and thats it and he doesn't look like he is forcing air down then its just basking. Its actually pretty kewl
