Guess the morph

thegeckobarn Mar 03, 2004 09:28 PM

Can anyone take a good guess as to what morph this albino is?
We purchased them Monday, and they arrived today, but the seller is unsure also, hehe. Either way, it doesnt matter, we love them all!

Thanks!
~Crystal

I'd say tremper, I had some babies hatch out last season that looked just like that. But, I don't have a lot of expereince with the other two strains.

It is more-or-less an albino with darker colors that people had dubbed "Chocolate" to try to quicken the sale of the animal, and maybe even increase the prices. There was a discussion on the other site about it a few months ago...

Also, I'd have to say Tremper.

There is such a thing as a "chocolate albino", well, as long as someone uses that name, it exists, like it or not. It refers to a darker albino and it doesn't make any other claims then that.

Justyn,

Not to start a war or anything. I just think that the term "Chocolate Albino" is used to sell the darker, undesired (when compared to Tang Albinos, etc) morph. Although that is just my opinion, I don't think a true "Chocolate" Albino has been produced....yet.

if there's no chocolate albino then are there no tangerines or snows...it's just refering to line bred dark coloration. There are actually a lot of people who prefer the darker chocolates over the normals.

turd brown or maroon brown call them "chocolate" it sounds nicer LOL... now i would have to say it is proven because "chocolates" are what the original trempers looked like before temp manipulation and outcrossing into other morphs... i would have to say ALOT of whats out there now (not all though) is actually not a proven genetic trait and in my opinions some tang hypo trempers when bred and incubated normally would give you nothing more than possible a bown ermm i mean "chocolate" albino with more pattern reduction or more orange.... shoot i like the really really dark Trempers that have nice contasting color... dark color,, nice orange or high yellow bands and pinks base skin color.. now thats a uniques animal!!!!!!
so yeah chocolate albinos do exists its just a phrase to describe the coloration of that paticular animal... just like jungle, stripe, tang.hybino, whatever

Like the one on Chad's gecko genetics page. Anyone know who breeds them? VMS pulled the plug on the project.

you could probably make chocolate jungle albinos by breeding 2 jungles together. Just do the opposite of the make colors brighter method. Keep temp for 2 weeks at temp for sexing then bring the temp down to like 80.
