Okay, we've got a 3-4 year old sunglo and recently patches of her skin are starting to fade to a white. The white starts faintly at the top after the head and continues in a stripe down the back of the snake and at about halfway gets really thick but it's still pretty faint yet easily noticable.

Anyone heard of anything like this??? What might it be???

Before you start freaking out thinking you've got a piebald or something, take a closer look.

Cornsnakes which repeatedly scrape their scales as they move against something (especially plastic) will wear away the color. I've seen it happen, especially on amel and hypo snakes, where they scrape against the entrance of their hide or something similar, and whitish areas/stripes result. If this is the case, changing the offending object to prevent scrapes is your best option, and given time (months), the color should return to those areas if they're not too badly damaged.

nope, i don't think scraping is the problem...she's in a rubbermaid with paper towel...a cardboard hide and a waterbowl...there's no scraping going on i don't think...it's strange...no behavior or eating changes...seems to digest fine...i dunno...guess i'll have to wait and see....
