Crystalized formations around the nasal openings?

m40p Mar 04, 2004 03:20 AM

My ornate uromastyx has been getting these crystalized formations around his(her?) nasal openings. I this a sign of respiratory infection or is this normal? I think I remember reading somewhere that this is normal...but I just want to make sure.

Thanks,
Brandon

Yeah the white salty looking stuff is normal. Boogers. Thats how we named our Uromastyx: The Booger.

As long as it's not like mucus and bubbling... then it may be a sign of further illness. But the white stuff that comes off is normal. Boogers!

Hi,

It is normal, nothing to worry about. Uros have salt glands around their nose which excrete other ions in their system and couses white salt crystals to form around their nose. If there seems to be a build up in the nostril, wipe it with a damp Q-tip.
