Escaped crickets! Help!

Nicodemus Mar 04, 2004 08:04 AM

Ok, I have a problem. I bought a bunch of crickets yesterday and this morning most were gone! I'd rather not say how they good out...I feel stupid enough already so I'd rather not tell everyone

Anyway, its not just a couple either...a good 20 of them escaped! They aren't fully grown, but they were mediums, so I'm afraid soon they will start growing wings and chirping and driving me nuts. I'm also really afraid they will multiply.

Any thoughts folks?
Any sort of way to trap them?

Well I'm sure the crickets wont attack you while your sleeping.I have crickets kept on a shelf 8 ft from my bed that chirp constantly and they don't drive me insane...Maybe I am more tolerant than other people.

I don't know if they could breed in your home, because they need a dark, moist place to lay their eggs. Unless you live in the basement, in which case maybe they could. I have had cricket escapees that chirped for a few nights and drove me mad, but they eventually will die off. I'd check around any houseplants to see if they're feeding off of them.

I've caught 4 of them so far.
I even bought some glue traps and set upa round the house, but so far I havent seen anything.
I'm thinking they may have escaped outside or something....
