I.D. Chameleon for Sale in Algiers

My girlfriend is currently posted to Algeria, and takes photos of animals she finds in the markets. Although this looks like a marine fish tank, you will see the lacerta and the chameleon. Genus Chameleo I know, and I think I know the species, but I will leave final I.D. to the sea of experts out there...

Thanks. So, these would be the "stress colors" I presume? (I just never seem to recall a specimen with such vivid and variegated spotting.)

That is pretty sad. That Chameleon is doomed, unfortunately.

I'm no expert, but those actually look like gravide colors to me.

Thats the gravid colouration of a Veiled chameleon, not sure about common though.
I'm not even going to bother saying anything about the enclosure it is in, just mate - Do some research!
