Starburst Womas

AshleyM Jun 10, 2003 04:27 PM

I have seen Womas advertised as "starburst" or "starburst phase," yet the pictures I have seen do not look markedly different from regular Womas. I read a VPI-authored article that stated: "In any case, it’s a made-up name that I’d say could be used to apply to almost every woma in the US." At this point in my research, I would be inclined to agree with the VPI article; can anyone give me any more info?

Sorry to let my southern drawl inject the header, but it was (to my understanding) a name made up at a herp show by a breeder. I could probably recall who and where, but the point is, among us with womas, it is in no way or fashion a different animal, or even a brighter morph of Woma. Don't get me wrong, there is a distinct difference between a nicely patterened one and a muddier one, and some morphs and lines are much better than others. That is the difference between a $1000 hatchling and a $500 one. But there hasn't been a spectacular line w/c that differed substantially from the rest. I think this breeder created many ooohs and aaahs from showing hatchlings before the banding and head color faded somewhat, and knowingly or unknowlingly; came up with a catch phrase.
Should anyone out there differ in opinion, I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours!!!!

they are just trying to milk all the money out of them as they can as more and more become more readily availible the prices go down and just as with ball pythons every little imoerfection becomes a new morph just to ge tmore money out of them its just real dumb after a while when people cant admit that there snake is a normal phase and nothing more just my opinion though
