devil male

I have a male leo that has breed with two females, one last year and one this year, after one clutch from each female they both have died. IM confused and dont know why this has happened. Both females were correctly cared for, and if it was a parasite it would have killed off the male by now, right? The only thing i can think of is the male.
If by chance both died from egg binding what can i do to prevent it again.
