itchy turtle?

turtlemoon Mar 04, 2004 03:23 PM

My baby RES sometimes bites his arm. Is he doing this because he has an itch?... or is he just trying to fake me out into thinking he's so hungry he's trying to eat himself?

Most likely it is shedding and trying to get a piece of skin off that is irritating him. If the problem continues and starts biting himself raw take him to the vet to prevent infection. In this scenerio it would probably be parasites or bacterial infection to cause your turtle to bit himself raw.
