Poison Oak And Ivy

socalherper Mar 04, 2004 03:49 PM

Maybe this info will help some fellow field herpers out.
I have gotten Poison Oak sometimes twice a year beacause it is hard to see in the spring time. I have gotten shots used calamine
I've done it all.
This product works Fast and is inexpesive and is at the local Savon or Wallgreens or drug store..
It's Oak-n-Ivy brand Calagel $4.00 a bottle will last you a long time. Also Oak-N-Ivy Tecnu skin cleanser so it wont spread.
I am living proof it works.
Here's a link under my name.
Hope this may help fellow Herpers.
$6.00 gets you both, see photo in like.

I will be picking some up when I get poison oak, again. I must have had poison oak over a hundred times. I am hoping some day that I will get immune from it. Anyways, SoCalherper dude, do you have any trips planned or any targets species? Spring is springing and gas prices are skyrocketing

that can rub poison oak or ivy on their skin and not get anything. I picked up some poison ivy, rubbed it on my skin vigorously, and all I received was two dots that never itched or hurt. Thought I should just rub that in.

when I was your age, I could say the same thing. Not anymore, and I predict you will head down the same path with repeated exposure.

Yea, I have been warned before. Especially since you can develop an allergy really quickly and without warning. I am enjoying the immunity while it lasts.

Do some more research on poison ivy. I bet you are more careful in the future! Good luck

I have used Tecnu for years and have converted a number of people to it. My experience (poison ivy) is that you can touch this stuff without fear as long as you wash with Tecnu as soon as you get out of the field.

I get poison ivy at least 4 times a year. I know better, but when I'm reaching for an extra-promising board, I loose my head. I will definitely try this. Thanks.

I know what Poison Oak and Ivy looks like I point it out to my kids,
But, When I see a Snake or log I go for a closer look and Whala ...
I have a snake in my hand and I am standing in the middle of a
poison Oak Patch.. The only thing on my mind is the snake or log I want to get to. Darn, but the finding the snake was worth it even if it is a gopher snake.
