What about bannanas?

rowad Jun 10, 2003 05:18 PM

One of mine seem to like them...yet I haven't heard much talk about them...are they ok to feed?
Also...is ambient humidity important if the substrate is moist? They typically spend alot of time underground and if the substrate is damp what would it matter?

Thanks
nicole

I feed my Argentine B&W banana's all the time. If you have some miner-all, it's good to sprinkle a bit on them.

Ambient humidity is important. If your substrate is moist, then unless you have a drafty cage, the ambient humidity should be ok. Get yourself a humidity guage and see. I use cypress mulch, and wet it down when the humidity level starts dropping to the 40% mark.

My blue tegu will gulp down bannanas, raisins, and grapes whenever offered.

I limit ventilation to keep humidity up. It is better to keep a humid cage than wet substrate. Wet substrate = soggy, moldy mess. Damp substrate = happy tegu.

Best of luck.
