new arrivals and my rack system

tdelliott Mar 04, 2004 06:19 PM

I just wanted to post pics of the three girls I received from Craig at The Urban Gecko. I just love them and Craig offers great customer service!!

I also am posting a picture of my rack setup just for everyone to see. My husband built it for me and I am really proud of it

Tamara in Texas

PS- The racks were full before I started selling last years babies. Eggs are hatching fast though...you can't have an empty space for too long

It is no problem Jack

Only one of the geckos is still listed on his website. It is the first gecko I posted. On craigs website, she is TUG-TC-TB8, which is the third gecko down. I am attaching her photo to this post also.

Hope this helps Her colors are actually better in person than in my pic, but the pic is close.

Thanks,
It does look pretty similar in both pics. Only theirs is little makes the colors come out better. Im sure its even better in person though, great looking gecko and good luck with it.

I have a habit of leaving my tea glass somewhere and forgetting where I put it...I keep drinks by me all day and the glass floats around the house with me. So, if he can do all that but can keep track of my tea glass, I'll happily overlook him losing track of his keys!! LMAO!!

roi3in Mar 06, 2004 09:30 PM

you have to feed him too and he snores LMAO

You are very kind about the rainwater I am sad about the mom to your baby though. She had an eye infection last year that caused permenant damage and it is not responding to the medication any more. The vet changed her meds once again, but it just is not fixing it. He said today that I will probably have to put her down if this course of meds does not work. We have tried just about everything we can come up with I am afraid she is strting to suffer with this and I don't want that for her.

I am a homeschooling mom of two boys, and we have a 1000 square foot classroom that we are able to put all of our critters in. That is the reason for such a big rack system. We have 2 dogs, a cat, 2 guinea pigs, two snakes, and all of the geckos I am huge animal fan (as you can probably tell). We just finished building this house a couple of weeks ago and I am really enjoying the space.

The racks were very easy to build (according to my husband). The hard part was getting the shelves spaced just right so that the tubs slide in smoothly, but tight enough to keep the geckos in.

One of the females I posted is amost ready to breed. I am looking forward to the babies

Thanks again for your nice comments,
Tamara

Well, because my name was mentioned, I got a question for you Tamara. What are your racks made out of? What is the backing? I really like the look of them and badly need to build/buy some racks soon.
Thanks
Justyn

Hi Justyn,

The racks are made out of melamine shelving. The back is made of white pegboard.

I really have enjoyed these racks, but if I was going to do them again, I would do them more like the ones in the Urban Gecko video. He cuts a slit on the end to run the heat tape through and puts a seperate control panel on the end of the rack to hold the dimmers and tempertature displays.

Craig does a great job showing how to build them too.

Tamara
