Well, its a sad day....

pspguy Mar 04, 2004 06:26 PM

I lost little Sara today. Not really sure what happened... I actually thought she was recovering. She had be more active and actually had a stool last night. I gave her the .5cc of Repti-Aid this morning, and when I went in there a few minutes ago to give her another helping, I found her in the hide, with a mouth full of Bed-A-Beast dead. *sigh*

To top that off, I took Quizmo, my new Red Tail Boa to the vet today, only to find out that it has mouth rot so severe it probably can only eat mice (its 10.4 lbs and 5.5 feet long), and will need blood work done next week. I hate to beat a dead horse, but *sigh*

Anyway, sorry I don't have better news this evening.

Jeff

jeff, i am sorry for your loss of sara... as for the boa im glad you took her in... mouth rot isnt really that hard to treat but it also depends on how baad it is...
as far as leoman he has absolutely no room here to talk at all... considering he has a picture of a thin rangie leo in his signature, let me tell you it just "glows and radiates a fat and happy gecko"
leo you should worry bout your own animals rather than others.....maybe focus more time and effort into feeding them perhsaps?

Thanks Robin:

I really only pay attention to a few of the posters on here, and their opinions anyway. Everyone has different viewpoints, regarding feeding, substrate, UV lighting, pretty much everything. We learn from each other. I'll be the first to admit, if I had to choose one thing that hurt Sara is was me using the ESU Lizard Litter. I have now taken it out of all the cages, and everyone else is fine. I really thought Sara would be fine since she was going poo again, but I guess it was too little too late. The worse thing I could do is not learn from my mistake of losing her, and I have and did. All of my leos are on repti-carpet now, and are fed in bowls. I've been talking extensively to Rick from Geckoland and I'm "training" my leos to start looking for supers and mealies in a bowl...

hey man don't get down on yourself. You make a mistake maybe everyone will learn from it. We live we learn. Someone on the forum here as a really cute quote something about:evertime we lose a gecko think of god creating his own collection.
Good on you for taking in those sick animals, we've got a compasionate kid here that doesn't deserve getting randomly bashed by some random cakehole who in turn should be fricking "reported".

pspguy Mar 04, 2004 08:22 PM

I don't take it personally, as long as I'm okay with myself at the end of the day, I'm fine. There are some folks on here whos opinion I value greatly, and those folks know who they are. As for the quote, its "thegeckobarn" or Crystal Light (she has fewer calories).

thegeckobarn Mar 04, 2004 09:05 PM

*shows off her slimness* yeah right! LOL.
But anyway, how did I get into this, and what did you mean by that? lol

LOL, you're in it because he mentioned your signature quote. There is a diet drink called "Crystal Lite", lol, and that's what I think of whenever I see your name... less calories, HAHAHA.. sorry.

Jeff

thegeckobarn Mar 04, 2004 09:18 PM

to figure out who posted it! Thank you Snarks, im a firm believer that God loves his collections just as much as we do...corny joke..but I bet has more "ghost" morphs than we do! LOL...im lame.

Btw...the drink really IS called "Crystal Light" same way you spell my name..but I dont drink it, yuck. I should be famous and rich by now, dontcha think? ah well...too bad it was created before my time.

At least you tried Jeff. As I have seen there are some on here that wouldn't. One in particular would ave tried to pawn her off on a reptile auction or something...LOSER! Thats what happens when you rescue some leos, I had one that looked to be recovering and then had a seizure one day right in front of me. Don't stop rescuing them though, I have saved some as well, and you will too, they are a hardy little breed.

I hope that something good does come out of this. LGM is just a loser, waiting to start talking crap. He is the definition of a troll.

Just keep on truckin', keep on truckin'.

Thanks Josh. I'm kind of fuzzy, but are you the same Josh that was around these forums about this time last year when I got my first leo, and you quit breeding the leos to go with snakes?

I guess my other girls knew I was a bit upset. They put on quite a show at feeding tonight. 4 heads poking out of one hide, and chasing the same superworm. It was pretty hilarious. Of course I think the best part was Aspen trying to catch a superworm while her 2 front legs were on Nannar's back and Nannar was running the other direction.

Nope-

I'd never give up my Leopard Geckos, although I am interested in getting into snakes. Too many Josh's in the world.

More Power to ya, man. Keep rescuing those herps if you want to. Don't listen to what LGM says.

numbers scare me....theres too many of them!

meretseger Mar 05, 2004 10:55 AM

If you keep your herp on any particulate substrate, you're likely to find it in the herp's mouth when it dies. This is just how they die and the substrate just happened to be there. Bed a Beast is basically just dirt, and I consider dirt a very low health risk.

(I'm also depressed that I know this, but that's life)

Hello Jeff , sorry for your loss . Dont quit what you are doing . I bought a super hipo tangerine that was suffering from MBD . She pulled through but she will be deformed the rest of her life . She now lives in the living room out of the repti room . I wouldnt trade her for a million healthy leo's so that shows that sometimes it pays off to try , they can become your best freind ( and yes I love all my leos ).
Hay leo man , its pretty ovious by all the people on here that you doint have no idea what you are talking about . Do you not have a heart ? Would you rather sit back knowing it will die without trying nothing ? GROW UP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope your boa's going to be ok. I just lost my Ball to septicemia after almost eight weeks of medical treatment. Good luck!
