Hey there Debra-
Well I have heard of a few people here and there trying to breed for light color and as far as I have heard it has just been the luck of the draw. I haven’t heard of any light parents producing light babies, but then again if this is a recessive trait then all the babies would be normal or hets and only a 25% chance of seeing the trait and that is again assuming that its somehow genetically linked AND that the two parents at least het carriers if not completely recessive in trait. So although I feel that it would be a GREAT project and definitely something a big breeder like you could look into but as far as I know I think light to dark colors is incomplete dominance or a blending of the two parental colors. I would say that would be the most likely possibility... BUT I hope you can prove me wrong! I’m looking forward to seeing you this season. Will you be at the IRBA San Diego in late March? If so Steve and I will see you there and I wish you great luck this season, looking forward to seeing some of those little ball babies...

Sincerely,

Im not breeding at the moment because i thought it was a female and got another male that is normal color. So now i have two males sitting around in my guest room. When i do get a female im gonna look for a light colored one like that. Mines not as light as yours but still fairly light compared to my other one. Hes 4 foot long and about 2000g maybe more. If you are interested in him send me an email and we can talk more.

We posted this a while back. She is growing nicely and should make an interesting project. The one on the right is fairly light colored, but helps for comparison. She changed from a very dark baby into this desert ghost look. What do you think about yours? I like it and think these would make great projects. Good luck.
