Vet Sarah Brett said the group had experienced a steady stream of injured wildlife over the past month, one of which was a magnificent water python.
Police had 'arrested it after it bit a person.
It had been bashed with a broom and was objecting to the treatment.
Both the snake and the person ended up at the hospital.
Both recovered and the snake was successfully released.
Dr Brett said this was a classic example of two things: most people are snake bitten whilst trying to kill snakes and many creatures are killed which were harmless in the first place.
"The moral of the story is: Leave all snakes well alone," she said.
"Contact CALM for advice if you do have a snake in an area around people.
"This snake was one of the most splendid pythons that I have seen in the Kimberley, having the most incredible iridescent scales that shimmered with a glorious rainbow pattern.
"It would have been a tragedy had it been needlessly murdered. …
