Hey Linda,
I'd be like a little kid with that temp. gun; blazing away around the cage. I currently use two of those indoor/outdoor temperature gages that record max and mins also. One I keep fixed and the other I move around. The pic was taken two days ago and the temps where she's basking ranged from 81 to 86 and she was there for 3 days and was there when I left for out of town for an overnighter. Prior to that she was buried down in the substrate where the temps ranged from 72 to 77. When I got home today she was back buried in the substrate and is really milky.
Just the thought of that temp. gun has got me all excited. Gotta get one.

At first I was a bit dissapointed with it. I got it at work and when I played with in it was showing cats temp between 74-76 , and they are actually 101-102.5. Somehow I expected internal temp readings instead of surface temps. So I thought it needed to be calibrated and called and talked to Chad and he confirmed what it said on the instructions. I guess I was too excited to realize that it read surface temps instead of internal temps. But, it is really cool. I've checked out everthing and once you know how it works you can see how you have to read the numbers. It seems to be accurate with 1/2 to 1 degree, IMO. Once I figure out the norms, I will be able to interpret the values. It's been a fun "toy". I think I'll grow to trust it.

By the way, your female is looking kinda.....gravid.
