Time for a shed!

LeeFobes Jun 10, 2003 05:42 PM

My snakes eyes have turned light blue, how long should it take for him to start shedding? do they do it the same day their eyes cloud over? I put a damp Towel with a hole cutout over the screen top (in due time i'll be getting plexi glass) and with the excess peice i cut out, i dampened it and put it in the cage aswell. I followed someones advice on here (name slipped my mind, but thank you!) and put the water dish above the UTH and the snakes hidebox under the Black Light. I misted the cage pretty good, im probably gonna mist it again at like 8 or so, and re-dampen the towel thats on the screen. Hope Fully this shed will go better than the last...he still has some extra skin left on from the last one, so maybe it will come off with this shed also, i know they get figity when their eyes cloud over, but this striking should go away after the shed?

oh, and another thing, how do people make those flower pot hiding places? i need all the tricks of the trade to get lots of humidity in my cage. on y list of things to get are: Plexiglass (can i drill air holes in it?) One of those Flower Pot hides (when i know how to make it) and a moss box with damp moss (or should i scatter it around places in medium thickness?
I want my snake to be happy and to have good sheds!

Typically, once the eyes turn full milky blue, 3-5 days.
