WEIRD MALADY

DoorGunner Mar 04, 2004 10:31 PM

Have any of you guys ever seen this? I just took my adult female albino black rat out of brumation and she has what look like two blisters on her. One is on the neck and the other mid-body. Her scales there seem to be filled with fluid, and she is sensitive to touch there. The pic is from last year. Thanks for any help/advice you can give.

They could be from too much moisture while in brumation. I have seen this as well. Just make sure her enclosure is dry and plenty warm. They should dry up, but will more than likely leave a visible spot until she sheds. It may take a couple of sheds to get completely rid of them, but they can sometimes leave small scars.

Hope this helps.

I really appreciate your input. I was thinking the same thing myself about the moisture because she likes to curl up in her water bowl for for inordinate amounts of time. Now I've found she is infested with mite, and where they came from I have no idea. They are currently being annihilated. Thanks again.
