And if anyones by the other pic I posted ..what kind he may be they told me an ornate. Thanks ....Tracy

Don't waste any time get your beastie to a vet!! It could be tail rot, but its a good idea to have a vet check it out. In the future don't purchase any beasties with questionable health.

Good Luck!

i agree with the other post....take buddy to the vet.

from the looks of him he looks like a mali...i would have to see a picture of him under regular white light or have you tell me his colors to tell you exactly....but i think he's a mali. if he has a black background color ( or is gaining black background) and has yellow or tanish spots then he's a mali.

he looks like he has had tail rot at some point in his life because all his spikes are smoothed down and not sharp pointy....also, from the looks of his tail he needs to be taken straight to the vet!!!! that looks pretty bad.

hope this helps

I agree with the others, an immediate visit to a herp knowledgeable vet is needed. It could or could not be tail rot. It could be serious or not. It is almost impossible to tell without an examination. Do the skin patches flake off revealing redness underneath? That would be some type of infection. What type (bacterial, viral, fungal) would depict what treatment. If the patches are hardened, not red and not painful it could be scar tissue from the tail being bitten in the past. The rounded rather than pointed tail scales is a good observation. However, if the animal is an older wild-caught specimen, that could be normal from wear and tear.
Please see a vet.
