These are basic questions that you can easily find answers to at www.bluetegu.com or agama international....or a search of the archives of this forum. I'm sure all of these questions have been answered in the last 3 months, many times. Taking on the responsibility for a new reptile pet means doing the research to learn it's needs. Take some time, do some searching. Good luck with your new Tegu.
I agree. I recently got in a big fight with two of my best friends because they both bought herps on impulse the same weekend! One bought a skunk fat tail gecko and one bought an iguana. The gecko was no big deal since they are quite easy, but my friend who bought the iguana didn't know about humidity, temp gradients, or even that iguanas get almost 7' and can be quite pugnacious as adults. My point is that any animal needs to be researched BEFORE purchase. I don't mean any offense, but it just burns me up when someone buys a "cute" little baby first and THEN asks how to take care of it. Did you know they grow up to 5', or that they need tons of space and lots of digging room? I am also a newbie to tegus (about 4 months), but I always do at least a month or so of research before I buy. There are so many choices out there and just as many different husbandry needs, so you must take the time to sit down and research. I know nothing anyone says will ever stop impulse buyers, but I just wanted to state my opinion. You owe it to the animal and yourself to know what you are getting into.
