ok now im planning on using a UTH for my leopard gecko...

if i just use the under tank heater will i need any special lighting

Nope, if your viv area is reaching the desired temps with the use of your UTH then no other light source is needed. Leo's are nocturnal and do not actually need the UVB light that some of the other lizards need.
