70 grams in 2 weeks!!!

kephy Mar 05, 2004 08:49 AM

Ocho went in for his follow up a few days ago. Amazingly, after 2 weeks of albon, his coccidia looked to be completely gone! She still saw a little giardia, so we're keeping him on that medicine for a little longer and going in for another follow up.

The crazy thing is that he gained 70 grams since his last visit 2 weeks ago! They had to weigh him twice just to make sure there wasn't a mistake. Is this wierd or what? The only thing that's changed is that I started adding Rep-Cal pellets to his salads.

Parasites can really tax a dragons system and take much of the growing nutrients that they dragon needed. Not just the parasites but the gram negative bacteria as well.

When we get in dragons that are ill... its always amazing the growth jump they go into when on meds and they are getting healthy and that growth pace will usually keep up for a few months... they seem to make up for the lost growing time!

I am glad he is better and you caught what the problem was.

I thought he was pretty much done growing by this point. He's two and a half years old. 384 grams is the most he's ever weighed in his life. I'm just beside myself!

I'm happy for you and your Dragon

I'm working to get my 2 Juvenile Dragons coccidia and parasite free and success stories like this give me hope. I can't wait until things can get "normal" so they can develope huge appetites like the ones I read about in this forum.
