Sexing?

KaylaB Mar 05, 2004 09:04 AM

I've had my baby for almost 2 years now. Never had him(?) sexed, I just use 'he' for the sake of simplicity.
I am looking to eventually get another bp, am looking at having a breeding pair in the long term. So, obviously, I need to know what sex my current bp is before I try to find a mate.

Any suggestions on where I could get him sexed? The vet near me doesn't deal with reptiles, and I've been car-less for a while so it's hard to go looking around.
Has anyone out there had experience with sexing their own? Or is it better to leave it to 'professionals'?

I'd let someone who knows what they're doing do it. Check out reptile shows (they sometimes have vets on hand for exams, sexing, etc) or even one of the breeders there might do it for you. If you can find any breeders in your area they might do it. Also check petstores that sell exotics/reptiles.
