Looking for a Cribo or Indigo snake

JohnStyner Mar 05, 2004 10:14 AM

My friend wants one and was wondering what the availability was. I saw the 2 ads for cribos in the classified but they are beyond his price range.

I didn't see the ad for the cribos. Cribos and Indigos aren't cheap snakes. The various subspecies of Drymarchon generally run from $150 to over $1000 (some breeders will get that this year).

By the end of the hatching season, you may find some black tails or unicolors that aren't too pricey.

Indigos and Cribos aren't very prolific if compared to other colubrids. They only produce 5-15 eggs and only do that every 2-3 years. This keeps demand, and prices, pretty high.

Keep your eyes open though, bargains can always be had.
