tail shaking

SyrenCyn Jun 10, 2003 06:24 PM

I have a male/female pair of Leos housed together. The female has layed eggs twice, during Spring of 2002. They have been observed mating only once and that was a few weeks before the eggs were layed. Today we were watching them and the male went to the female, licked her face, and then shook the tip of his tail. This lasted for about 10 seconds and then he began shaking his entire tail. I've seen him shake the tip of his tail before but only during eating. Any ideas why he did it to her? Mating dance? She could have cared less and promptly crawled over him to the shelter.

Thanks

n/p, they do that sometimes, specially when they are anxious of seeing the female.

A Male will vibrate his tail at another gecko to determine if it is another male. If the second gecko vibrates his tail back, then there is going to be a problem.
