Will they breed?

Andy1982 Mar 05, 2004 12:54 PM

I have had these two Leo's for about six months now. I got them very young, so i am guessing they are about 7 - 8 months old now. I got them from the same pet store, they were housed together along with about 30 other baby leo's. I recently checked and discovered that one of them is a male and the other is a female. The female is an albino, and the male is black and yellow. So, my question is will they mate even though they have lived together pretty much since popping out of the shell?? If so, i am fully prepared to care for the eggs and babies that come along with them. I have heard that leo's are sexually mature at 6 months, so being that mine are not much older than this, when should i expect to see the eggs, if at all?? Any answers will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, one thing you should know is that your geckos are probably too young to breed. It's not good at all to breed a female when she is too young because it can stunt her growth and she may have problems when she tries to lay eggs. If your geckos are large and fat, at least 50 grams, then it should be okay to breed them. I would have your geckos weighed first, before you allow them to breed. Good luck.

Matt
