breeding "evidence"?

Traci Mar 05, 2004 02:19 PM

I was wondering, are there always signs of breeding after they are "done"? I put two together last night and after awhile I saw them start to breed. I left them together overnight and this morning there were no traces of spilled semen or anything on the paper towels. I was just wondering if that meant that they didn't finish their business or what?? Thanks in advance for your help.

I hate to ask this but are you sure there m/f?All my snakes that have i have bred have left spermplugs/splooge on there substrate. If it's 2 males they will kinda look like there wrestling but not getting the job done.If your sure there m/f leave them be for a week,or seperate them and wait for her to shed then reintroduce them.I was sold a trio of ball pythons 1.2 and i didnt sex them and ended up putting 2 males together and they did leave a huge mess. After 5 weeks and no noticible bulges i sexed the trio and found out i had 2 males one female.Duh,I have probes and didnt use them.On a lighter note the one female i did have gave me 4 eggs...Good Luck...Paul.

Hi Paul! Yep they are male / female for sure, and they weren't wrestling or anything. After the male inserted his hemipenes (sp?) they were just sitting quietly w/ their tails moving around slowly. But no "mess" the next morning!

thanks!
