What kind of substrate should i use? i am using a large cage and am making 1/4 tropical and the rest desert. We are buying 2 leopard geckos and are also puttin in 2 green anoles and 3 hermit crabs. I do not worry about this, for i did this in a way smaller cage with same animals except the geckos(these geckos were eaten when i added a tree frog to the mix)and they got along fine. I know not to use sand for the baby geckos, but what else will work... i want to add live plants to the tropical side.

a really great substrate is that green carpet stuff. it is very easy to clean, and it is only like, 6 bucks at petco. it also comes in different sizes

that is def not a good idea. You shouldnt mix different species of animals. They all might ot have the same needs and habitat. That is a def a disaster waiting to happen.
