And thank goodness the "post monster" exists because your previous two postings were offensive to at least one person I know..."me"...who reads the forum.

While your point of view regarding "cut etiquette" is vaild...I feel you could have chosen a more diplomatic way to express your frustration and anger regarding what happened to you this past weekend. A kinder, gentler approach would have been more effective. At the very least, your comments would still be online for the entire herp community to read.

I look forward to reading future posting of your adventures out west...without the expletives, of course.

Herpee
Are you a LIBERAL? Stop being PC. Let Jeff vent. Been there
and know what he's griping about. Have respect for other
people on the cuts.

Back of Cliff. "Herpette" has every right to gripe about the language Jeff uses. I am tired of seeing it myself. Jeff needs to pipe down and keep the cussing to himself. If he has issues with someone spotlighting over him, he needs to address it with those people right then and there. Cussing on the forum is not needed. By the way, for your records, this is your ol' buddy Wayne Howell. Hasta lluego.

Again, I agree that Jeff has a valid point regarding cut etiquette. And, I agree that everyone has the privilege to “vent” and express his or her views on any public forum. This is not the issue.

The issue is the manner in which Jeff chose to express his anger in his note. I just feel there are more constructive ways to get your point across without threatening acts of violence or adding expletives in all caps as if implying you’re screaming at the reader. I’d like to point out that it is a violation of the terms of service with kingsnake.com to express himself the way he did. The following is from kingsnake’s Terms of Service under the header “Other Terms”…which we all agreed to follow when we signed on to join the forum.

· Threats, potentially libelous statements, personal attacks, disruption, and "trolling" (seeking to disrupt the site with inflammatory posts and actions) are violations. Technical disruption of the site is considered a particularly serious violation and when appropriate, legal recourse will be sought.
· Posting obscene materials, profanity, or racial, sexual, personal, or religious slurs to this website are violations.
· Threats of violence are a violation and will be reported to appropriate law enforcement agencies.

It’s ok to vent...just, please, choose your words carefully. Politics have absolutely nothing to do with basic common courtesy.

While we’re on the subject of cut etiquette, I breached it myself this weekend because I forgot to mention it to the person who was driving and snake hunting for the first time in their life. I was directly spotting the cuts from the passenger window and did not look ahead to see someone walking the cut. The driver wasn’t aware they were suppose to let me know there was someone just down from us. I realized what was going on just a little too late and apologized for the screw-up. The guy was nice but firm when he emphasized the cut etiquette philosophy to us. He was right. I was wrong. My friend, the driver, understood quickly what was expected. Problem solved without a face-to-face yelling match...or stones going through a windshield. Sometimes honest mistakes happen.

I am aware, however, that there are people out there who don’t care about the “rules of the road”, so to speak, and will do anything to get what they want. This is unfortunate because it takes some of the fun out of the thrill of the hunt.

A friend accused me earlier this evening of being a “coward” for not adding my “real” name on my reply to Jeff. Actually, he used a slang term that I can’t use here because then I would be violating the “terms of service” too. He implied I was afraid to take the heat on my own freedom of speech...and I’m not. So, Wayne Howell, here ya go, buddy...this sign off is for you.
